Large Mariposa (Butterfly) Calcite, Mexico - Rare Find
MINERAL DESCRIPTION
This Large Mariposa Calcite from Mexico showcases exquisite scalenohedral "Butterfly Calcite" crystals with phantoms, inclusions, and dual growth phases. Its color ranges from a lovely orange-brown to honey-caramel, and the crystals' surface is adorned with visible Hematite or iron oxide black specks. Its luster is exceptional, giving the specimen a brilliantly shiny appearance. When exposed to longwave UV light, it emits a ghostly glow in cream or white hues. The last known pocket of this material was discovered in 2014/15, with the previous find being 30 years ago. This is a truly unique and precious discovery.
